Voice Lessons: Developing your own sound in nonviolent communication (NVC)

What’s alive in you in this moment?
And how can you authentically express it without sounding like a recording?!?

In this full-day workshop, we will explore how to express ourselves using NVC  in a way that can lead to authentic connection with others, and does not sound “canned” or artificial.  You'll work with real life challenges through individual and group exercises to increase trust in your ability to use NVC in a way that facilitates connection rather than hinders it.

You will practice responding from needs in a way that fits your own voice, and get feedback from other participants. You’ll develop more facility in using NVC in everyday language and get a chance to try out different ways of speaking so you discover what is most likely to connect!

When: Sunday, March 28 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm

Facilitators

Shivani Gail Carroll and Bonnie Mioduchoski will both facilitate this workshop to provide as much support as possible.  Shivani and Bonnie offer Nonviolent Communication introductions, workshops and trainings in the Greater Boston area.

Shivani is a 2006 graduate of the North American NVC Leadership Program administered by BayNVC in Oakland, CA.  In 2008, she returned to that year-long intensive program as a member of the training team. She believes passionately in NVC as a tool for communication and inner and outer transformation.

Bonnie mediates, trains and coaches with the Harvard Mediation Program and leads a practice group in Cambridge. She sees NVC as a way to take her meditation practice into the world – to be able to hear people with compassion and also attend to her own inner judge!

Both Shivani and Bonnie are part of the 2010 9-month East Coast NVC Mediation Program and practice NVC intensively weekly and at the three residential retreats.

Level

This workshop is intended for people who have had a minimum of a full-day introduction/training to NVC within the last 3 years. You will get the most out of this if you've been practicing for a while and sometimes struggle with using NVC outside of groups/NVC world and want practice in a supportive environment. If you are new to NVC and would like assistance preparing for this, please contact Bonnie.
