Compassionate Parenting

Learn how to cultivate compassion for yourself and your family so you have more choice in how you respond in challenging moments

  • Do you want to learn new ways to model for your children the peace and compassion you would like for them to bring to the world?
  • Would you like to establish a connection with your child that can withstand the “wear and tear” of the teenage years? 

In this workshop we will explore ways to build relationships through speaking and listening compassionately, based on the work of nonviolent communication (NVC). You'll leave with tools and strategies to support you in bringing the degree of peace and harmony you wish to have in your family.

Led by BayNVC graduate and experienced school teacher Sherry Jennings. This workshop is suitable for both people who are familiar with NVC and new to the practice. Sherry Jennings

Sherry brings her experience of parenting three children as well as 30+ years of Waldorf teaching into her NVC training. She has been actively sharing NVC with parents since 2007 and has integrated NVC into her work as a teacher with students, parents and colleagues for over five years. She is a graduate of the BayNVC Leadership Program and is currently enrolled in the East Coast Mediation Immersion Program. Sherry heads the mediation team for her school and also consults to parents who want to find alternative ways to work with particular challenging situations in the home. Sherry is currently doing research on NVC with children as seen through the lens of the observable stages of child development.
