Cambridgeport Drop-In Meditation Sitting Groups

Please note that because of ongoing remodeling of our meeting space, both groups are suspended.  Meetings will start again early 2012.

Both groups meet at 17 Whitney Ave in Cambridge, MA.

Tuesdays, 7:00 am-7:45 am

We open our meditation space on Tuesdays for whoever wants to sit in silence in the company of fellow yogis.  No instructions given.

Sundays, 3:00 pm-5:00 pm

Join this weekly Vipassana (Insight) meditation sitting group when it’s convenient for you.

• 45-minute meditation. Sometimes guided, sometimes not. Talk and discussion follows.
• The sit will start at 3:00pm sharp. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to  3:00pm so everybody can enjoy the silence once the sit has begun.
• For all levels, from beginners to people who have been meditating for years. Instructions for beginners offered if needed.

• 3:00 pm – Sit
• 3:45 pm – Stretch break
• 3:55 pm - Talk and discussion
• 5:00 pm – End of program

• Please leave your shoes at the bottom of the stairs.  We have a couple slippers available but please wear warm socks if your feet get cold.
• Watch your step, as the steps can be slippery even though they have antiskid strips.
• You can leave bags, coats and jackets in the room on your left-hand side when you come up the stairs.
• Zabutons, zafus, chairs and a couple of benches are provided. You don’t need to bring anything.
• Dress in layers, as it is sometimes difficult to find a temperature that is comfortable for everybody.
• Permit parking only; park in the Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s lot at your own risk if you do not have a Cambridge parking sticker. We have two spots in the driveway available on a first-come, first serve basis. If you arrive first into the driveway, please pull forward to make space for a vehicle behind you. Thanks!
